PalmOrder Server macOS distribution works as an application in the menu bar. It is designed for Apple Silicon (arm64) computers. A status window may be displayed briefly during startup; after starting, the server works through an icon in the menu bar and does not have an icon in the Dock.
Launch and control
- Move
PalmOrder Server.appto the Applications folder. - Open the app.
- Look for the PalmOrder icon in the macOS menu bar.
Through its menu, you can open the control panel, the configuration, data and log directories, as well as stop or start the server.
To exit the server, select Quit from this menu. Do not terminate the process forcibly if there is an opportunity to stop it normally.
Data and configuration
The application stores configuration, data and logs in:
~/Library/Application Support/PalmOrder Server
The configuration file is located in the config/application.yml subdirectory. After changing it, stop and restart the server through the PalmOrder menu.
Use Open Config Folder, Open Data Folder, or Open Logs Folder to open the desired location in Finder.
If necessary, PalmOrder Server can be run in macOS and from a portable JVM distribution. Common requirements and commands are described on the page Portable JVM.
Renewal
- From the PalmOrder menu, select Quit.
- Back up the data directory.
- Replace the application in the Applications folder with the new version.
- Launch the new app and check the control panel.
Your data is not located inside .app, so replacing the app does not delete it. The detailed sequence is described on the page Update and Backup.
Important. The current macOS distribution is not signed or notarized. If the system blocks the launch, enable it in the Privacy & Security section of the system settings.
